How to check a UK sponsor licence

This page explains how to use the register. The company rows on the homepage are copied from the official file. This explanation is not.

Search the legal name

Type the name on the company register, not a shop name or a brand. “NHS” is not one sponsor. A care group may be licensed under a different limited company. If the search is empty, try the town on its own, then open the row.

What the columns mean

Main tier is the licence class on the file, usually Worker or Temporary Worker, plus the rating. An A rating is the normal rating. Sub tier is the route, such as Skilled Worker or Senior or Specialist Worker. First seen is the date this site first stored that row, not the date the Home Office granted the licence. The official file does not include that grant date.

What a row does not prove

It does not prove there is a job, that every role can be sponsored, or that a visa will be granted. The licence can be cut after this morning’s file. Check the company page here, then the official GOV.UK register, before you treat a row as current.
